Huge blast in Naihati in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal along the Hooghly River when police allegedly diffused confiscated bombs/ firecrackers in January 2020. Tremors were felt in Chinsurah in Hooghly district on the opposite banks of the river. Houses were damaged on both banks of the river.
Exact cause of the explosion was not clear.
Citizens and the opposition political parties have demanded a NIA probe.
