How not to sell West Bengal, a state in distress
Ladies and Gentlemen, presenting the Cheap Meenishtaar oph Waste Bengal at the flag off of 'Bengal Leads 2012' in January 2012.
Relearn your geeographi (sic), golden quadrels (sic), selling skills, life skills, etiquette. Have a hearty laugh :)
SOS! I'm going mad ... paagol baniye dichche :(
The lady is a multi-tasker ... can play kriket also :)
Don't even consider visiting Waste Bengal for a vacation. The high powered committee on industrial investment will catch you at Dum Dum airport or Howrah station and force you to invest in Egg Roll / Chowmin frying kiosks and that too in Jongol Mohol in lieu of an attractive package of 25 sq.ft of land. They will even give you a free feasibility report for exporting a part of your produce to Bangladesh & Pakistan which supposedly are located side by side.
Remember those Bangla movies during our childhood days. Anything that was commercial or industrial was projected in a very poor light. All industrialists/ businessmen were projected as lecherous villians/ criminals who were beaten up black & blue by the holy cows. Farming/ teaching/ hawking/ singing/ jatra dal'er sakhis & the likes were depicted as demi-gods. Living in poverty in shanties was eulogised.
In early 2011 prior to the West Bengal state assembly election, her promise was to take the state back 34 yrs if voted to power. She is keeping up to the promise. Any magic wand to save us from the shackles?
I am the last person to hear statements like 'give them some more time' or 'lets wait & watch' ..... it needed less than a sparrow's brain to predict that this would be the state of affairs!
