Police operations have intensified across several districts of Uttar Pradesh, with a series of encounters reported between law enforcement and criminal elements. In Mirzapur, Farid - an accused in an alleged religious conversion case operating under the cover of a gym - was arrested after an encounter in January 2026. Police say he opened fire, and in the retaliatory action he was injured in the leg. So far, four accused have already been sent to jail, four gyms have been sealed, and action followed complaints from young women.

In Kanpur, criminals reportedly fired at the crime branch during a routine checking drive. In the exchange, Niyaz Ahmed was injured. He is said to face more than 20 cases and is accused in a chain-snatching incident involving a retired woman inspector. Three teams have been dispatched to western UP for further action.

At Bahraich, alleged cattle smuggler Zafar was injured during an encounter and is undergoing treatment at Jarwal CHC. In Sonbhadra, police reported a major breakthrough against cattle smugglers - two accused were injured, nine cattle were recovered along with a pickup vehicle and illegal firearms; one constable was also hurt.

Meanwhile in Bulandshahr, under “Operation Langda,” wanted criminals Honey Verma and Anuj Verma - each carrying a ₹25,000 reward—were injured, with illegal weapons and a motorcycle seized.
