The son cringes at the pain he caused his parents ( we think ). He is grateful and hopes to be a better human being since gratitude fills his being. 
Within 3 years he is back in the party, drugs and casual dalliance space again. Gets busted for drug use and drug possession.
Father comes to the rescue calling media, cops, politicians and every 'anyone significant' he knows. He must save...his prodigal son. The father is an avid reader with book lust and biblomania. But this son didn't get even 1/10th of that eh?
Was the son made in a phase when the father was sloshed in wine, ash, party noise and banned substance ? Is Guilt that makes the father keep saving his prodigal son? Or is it name / status he protects?

ক'দিন বিশ্রাম নেব । লিখব না কিছু রাত জেগে । ভেবেছিলাম ।
মমতা ভাঙিয়ে ছাড়লেন । একপ্রকার বাধ্য করলেন । সারা দিন এত ইরিটেশন করালেন কলম ধরলাম বাধ্য হয়ে ।
সেই আবার ম্যান মেড বন্যার হাঁক । ইদানিং বেড়েছে এই ডাকটা । ক দিন আগে হাওড়া, হুগলী, ঘাটাল যখন ডুবেছিল এই হাঁকটাই দিয়েছিলেন  । বলেছিলেন ডি ভি সি না বলে জল ছেড়েছে, তাই বন্যা ।
সামনে পেলে জিজ্ঞাসা করতাম বলে ছাড়লে কি করতেন ? জলের স্রোত ঘুরিয়ে দিতেন ? নাকি বলতেন জল ছাড়া যাবে না । তাতে ডি ভি সি ব্যারেজ ভাঙে ভাঙুক ।
আপনি সব পারেন । মিথ্যে কথা বলাটা আপনার ধাত । যেমন আজও বললেন, কি নির্লজ্জ ভাবে ! ডি ভি সি যে প্রতিদিন সকালে নবান্নে স্ট্যাটাস রিপোর্ট পাঠায় স্বীকার করবেন ? ক্ষমতা আছে ? এটা স্বীকার করার মধ্য কোন এক্সট্রা সততার প্রয়োজন হয় না । যেটা প্রয়োজন হয় সেটা হল বেসিক honesty যেটাও কি অনায়াসে খুইয়েছেন । আমি বলছি প্রতিদিন ডি ভি সি থেকে চিফ সেক্রেটারির ঘরে মেল আসে । অস্বীকার করবেন ? আমি বলছি জল ছাড়ার empowerment committe তে রাজ্যের তরফে সেচ দফতরের চিফ ইঞ্জিনিয়ার আছেন । অস্বীকার করুন । আমি বলছি সবার সম্মতি নিয়ে তবে জল ছাড়া হয় । ৩০ তারিখ সকাল সোয়া দশটায় নবান্নে মেল ঢোকে, ২৯ তারিখ সকাল ১০ টা ৩৬ এ মেল ঢোকে । অস্বীকার করুন সব কিছু ? পারবেন উত্তর দিতে ।
ড: সুকান্ত মজুমদারের কাছে ডি ভি সি কর্তৃপক্ষ আগের দিনেই বার্তা পাঠান আমরা কিন্তু রাজ্যের কনসেন্ট নিয়েই জল ছেড়েছি । চিফ ইঞ্জিিয়ার জানেন সব । দেখবেন কাল ম্যাডাম উল্টো টাই বলবেন । 
ঠিক তাই হল । ডি ভি সি না বলে জল ছেড়েছে বলে ফুঁপিয়ে কান্না । অনেকটা সেই ববি হাকিম স্টাইলে কান্না । ওরা আমাকে বাঁচাতে দিল না । ববি সেদিন কলকাতা নিয়ে বলেছিলেন । ইনি রাজ্য নিয়ে । ভাবখানা এমনই । অডিও ক্লিপে ।
তা সামনে এলেন না কেন ? ধরা পড়ে যাবেন বলে ? চোখে, মুখে এক্সপ্রেশনে । তাই ? বিশ্ব মজুমদারকে দিয়ে ছড়ালেন ক্লিপটা ! সব চ্যানেলে । সরকার serious এটা বোঝাতে ?
আর সেই ক্লিপে কি না বকবক করলেন । বললেন ২ লক্ষ "মেট্রিক" টন জলের কথা । জলে মেট্রিক কথাটা যে হয় না আই প্যাকের আপনাকে ট্রেনিং দেওয়ার প্যাকেজে বোধ হয় সেটা ছিল না । তাই হয়তো বললেন না বুঝেই । অপদার্থতা  ঢাকতে ।
আরও বললেন আমি আর চিফ সেক্রেটারির মিলে দুর্যোগ নিয়ে একে অপরের সঙ্গে কনস্ট্যান্ট যোগাযোগ রেখেছি । এটা রেখে কি নতুন কিছু করেছেন নাকি ?
পরের প্রশ্ন এত যোগাযোগ রাখলেন তো আগে লোকগুলোকে রেসকিউ করেননি কেন ? প্রায় ৫০ লক্ষ মানুষ কি ভাবে রাত জাগছেন ভেবেছেন একবারও ? ভাবার সময় ছিল ? তখন তো ভবানীপুরে "নন" থেকে এম এল এ হওয়ার প্ল্যানিং নিয়ে ব্যস্ত !
এদিকে সাত দিন ধরে ঝাড়খন্ডে বৃষ্টি হচ্ছে । আবহাওয়া দফতরের খবর আসছে । যে কোন মুহুর্তে জল ঢুকবে এরাজ্যের কাকেরাও জানতো । আপনি নাকি জানেন না ! বিশ্বাস করতে হবে ? আপনার অফিস নাকি জানে না ! সব জেনেও কি ব্যবস্থা নিয়েছিলেন আগাম বলুন ? উত্তর আছে ?
যেমন ভাবে আজও উত্তর নেই ঘাটাল মাস্টার প্ল্যান নিয়ে নবান্নের সেই অমর কীর্তির । আনন্দবাজার, এই সময় এসব নিয়ে লিখবেনা । ঘণ্টা খানেক, ক্রস ফায়ার কিম্বা জনতার দরবার এই তথ্যগুলো নিয়ে নাড়াচাড়া করবেনা । গ্যারান্টেড ।
কি তথ্য শুনবেন ?
ঘাটাল মাস্টার প্ল্যান করে বন্যা আটকানোর জন্য ২০১৮ সালে রাজ্য বাজেটে রাজ্যের দেও ৭০ কোটি টাকা বরাদ্দ হয়েছিল । রাজ্য শেষ পর্যন্ত ৩৯ কোটি ৯৯ লক্ষ ৯৭ হাজার টাকা খরচ করার জন্য দিয়েও শেষ পর্যন্ত অজ্ঞাত কারণে তার অর্ধেকটাই খরচ হয়নি । ২০১৯-২০ সালে রাজ্য বাজেটে বরাদ্দ হয়েছিল ৬০ কোটি টাকা । শেষে এক টাকাও খরচ হয়নি । আর এ বছরের রাজ্য বাজেটে বরাদ্দ হয়েছিল ১১৫ কোটি টাকা । কিন্তু নবান্নের অর্থ দফতর থেকে ছাড়পত্র দেওয়া হয় ৩ কোটি ৭৫ লক্ষ টাকা । সেই টাকার শেষ পর্যন্ত গতি মুক্তি কোথায় গিয়ে থেমে আছে নবান্নের কোন আধিকারিকই আজও জানেন না । 
মুখ্যমন্ত্রী, কোন উত্তর আছে আপনার ? নেই । থাকবেও না এটা নিশ্চিত ।
এক একটা করে বন্যা বাংলায় আসবে । দৃষ্টি ঘোরানোর জন্য আপনি নিয়ম করে ম্যান মেড তত্ব ছড়িয়ে বিভ্রান্ত করবেন । তাবড় মিডিয়া জোগাড় করে গোড়ালি জলে দাঁড়িয়ে " খিঁচ মেরী ফোটো " সেশন দেবেন । আর বছর ঘুরলে হাওড়া, হুগলী, বাঁকুড়া, বর্ধমান, দুই মেদনিপুর  ভাসবে, মানুষ মরবে গরু ছাগলের মত । আর আপনি বাংলার এক শ্রেণীর মিডিয়া ম্যানেজ করে ভন্ডামি বাড়াবেন ।
আপনি জানতেন ভাসতে চলেছে বাংলা । তখন কোথায় ছিল আপনার ববি, অরূপ, সুব্রত, কল্যাণ ? সবাইতো ভবানীপুরে দুই হাঁটু জুড়ে বসেছিল । ঠিক কি না বলুন ?
আজ বাঁকুড়া,পুরুলিয়া, বর্ধমান, হাওড়া, হুগলির মানুষগুলো যখন জলের স্রোতে ভেসে যাচ্ছে তখন তাঁদের পাঠাচ্ছেন ! বিপদ আসছে আশঙ্কা মাথায় রেখে আগাম পাঠানো যেত না তাঁদের ঠিক সেই সময়ে ?  তুলে আনা যেত না ঐ হতভাগ্য মানুষগুলোকে ? ভেবে দেখেছেন কখনো ? একবারও ?
ভাববেন কি করে ? তখন নবান্নে গোয়ার প্রাক্তন মুখ্যমন্ত্রীকে দল বদল করিয়ে ভাইপোকে পাশে নিয়ে হাসি হাসি মুখে " খিঁচ মেরী ফোটো " সেশন দিচ্ছিলেন ।
আজ যখন কয়েক লাখ মানুষ ডুবছে ভন্ডামিটা আবার নতুন করে শুরু করেছেন ।  ক্লাব খেলা মেলা মচ্ছপে গত কয়েক বছরে উড়িয়ে দিয়েছেন প্রায় ১৬ হাজার কোটি টাকা । যা দিয়ে বাংলায় ১০ টা মাস্টার প্ল্যান অনায়াসে রূপায়ণ করে দেওয়া যেত ।
কে করবেন এই প্রশ্নগুলো তাঁর মুখের ওপর ? যাঁরা করতে পারতেন তাঁরা এখন গোড়ালি জলের ফোটো সেশনের জন্য মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর সফর সঙ্গী হবেন । এ বি পি আনন্দের আসাফুলরা গলা কাঁপিয়ে মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর পা ভেজার ধারা বিবরণী দেবেন । আর স্টুডিও তে বসে সংবাদ পাঠিকা বলে যাবেন তারপর, আসাফুল তারপর, বল বল তুমি ঠিক কি দেখছ তুমি ? মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর কি জলে পা রেখেছেন ? কি হল তুমি আসাফুল বল তুমি চুপ কেন ? উত্তেজনায় আসা ফুলের গলা ততক্ষনে রুদ্ধ । কথা বেরোচ্ছে না । মুখ্যমন্ত্রী ততক্ষনে সবাইকে চমকে দিয়ে জলে পা রেখেছেন ।
সেই জল, যা এই আগস্টের প্রথম সপ্তাহেই কেড়ে নিয়ে গেছে সাত দিনে শুধু ঘাটাল মহকুমাতেই ৯ টি তারতজা প্রাণ ।
সেই জলও আজ ধন্য, এবার কি বলবে আসাফুল ,! বল আসাফুল বল, চুপ করে থেক না । বল প্লিজ । আবেগ দিয়ে বল ।
শুনতে চাইছে বাংলা ।
